It dates from the Viking age of 853 874. The Aethelswith ring was designed in the so called Trewhiddle style, typical of Anglo Saxon art in the 9th century. The original ring was originally made of gold with niello inlay. The ring is now in the British Museum in London. The ring can be adjusted in size.
